Who We Are
The Kenya Rugby Referees Association (KRRA) is the official body responsible for the development, management, and welfare of rugby match officials across Kenya.
From grassroots competitions to elite international fixtures, KRRA referees serve at the very heart of the game—ensuring fairness, safety, and the highest standards of officiating.
Our History
Rugby refereeing in Kenya dates back to 1924, alongside the earliest organised matches in the country. Over the decades, the referee community has grown from a small society into a structured national association.
Today, KRRA brings together regional referee societies across the country, unified under one mission: to serve the game with professionalism and integrity.
What We Do
KRRA plays a central role in the Kenyan rugby ecosystem by:
- Appointing match officials across all competitions
- Training and developing referees at all levels
- Managing referee welfare and career progression
- Supporting pathways to regional and international officiating
- Promoting discipline, respect, and fair play
Our referees officiate in major competitions, including the Kenya Cup, National Sevens Circuit, schools and university leagues, and international fixtures under Rugby Africa and World Rugby.
